IPTV on Smart TV 2026: Samsung and LG Setup Guide

By Norge IPTV 4K Editorial Team · Published

Want IPTV on your smart TV without extra boxes and cables? It is entirely possible — and easier than most people expect. This guide covers step-by-step setup for Samsung and LG, how to choose an app, what to do with older TVs, and fixes for the most common errors.

Does IPTV work on a smart TV?

Yes. Samsung TVs (running Tizen) and LG TVs (running webOS) both have their own app stores with several IPTV players. You install an app, enter the login details we send you, and watch directly on the screen — no decoder, no box, no second remote.

That gives you 25,000+ TV channels and 120,000+ movies and series in HD and 4K, with a smart EPG and catch-up TV, inside the TV's own app. All you need is a TV from the past few years and an ordinary internet connection.

Which app should you choose?

Both app stores offer several IPTV players, and most do the job. The key things to understand:

  • The player is just a shell. The actual content comes from your subscription. The app determines the look and navigation — not the channel selection.
  • Some apps charge a small one-time fee to the app developer for full functionality. That is normal and has nothing to do with your subscription.
  • Look for EPG support. A good programme guide is half the experience, so pick a player that shows listings and supports catch-up.

When you order from us, you get a specific app recommendation for your exact TV model on WhatsApp, along with ready-to-use setup details. Device-by-device walkthroughs are also on our installation page.

IPTV on Samsung smart TVs (Tizen)

Samsung TVs from around 2017 onwards run Tizen and have access to the Smart Hub app store. Setup goes like this:

  1. Press the Home button on the remote and open Apps (Smart Hub).
  2. Search for an IPTV player and install it.
  3. Open the app. Most players now show either a playlist field or a device code on screen.
  4. Enter the login details we sent you on WhatsApp — either directly on the TV or via the player's website using the device code.
  5. Wait for the channel list to load. The first load can take a couple of minutes because the list is large.
  6. Done. Channels, EPG and the movie library now live inside the app.

Tip: pin the app to the home screen so it is always one click away.

IPTV on LG smart TVs (webOS)

LG TVs from around 2016 onwards run webOS and use the LG Content Store. The process is very similar:

  1. Press the Home button and open the LG Content Store.
  2. Search for an IPTV player and install it.
  3. Open the app and note the device code or MAC address if the app uses one.
  4. Enter your login details — on the TV or via the player's activation page.
  5. Load the channel list and wait for the EPG to download.
  6. Done. Browse channels and movies straight from the remote.

Tip: if you have LG's Magic Remote, the pointer makes navigating long channel lists much faster.

What about older TVs?

If your TV has no app store, or its smart platform has become painfully slow, the answer is a cheap streaming stick — not a new TV. A Fire TV Stick or Chromecast with Google TV plugs into the HDMI port and gives any screen a fast, modern app platform for a few hundred kroner.

We compare all the options, from budget sticks to dedicated IPTV boxes, in our best IPTV box guide.

Common errors — and how to fix them

The app cannot find the playlist

Almost always a typo. Check that the username, password and address are entered exactly as you received them, with no leading or trailing spaces. Better yet, copy the details straight from the WhatsApp message instead of typing them.

The picture stutters or freezes

Test the internet speed on the TV itself first. Below roughly 25 Mbit/s, 4K content may struggle. Move the router closer, switch to the 5 GHz band, or — best of all — use an Ethernet cable. If that does not help, restart both the TV and the router; it solves more than you would think.

The app is missing from the app store

App availability varies by TV region and model year. Try another IPTV player from the same store, or ask us on WhatsApp — we know which apps are available for your model. Worst case, a streaming stick is a fast and cheap workaround.

The EPG is empty

Give the app a few minutes on first launch — programme data for thousands of channels takes time to download. Also check that the EPG is enabled in the app settings and the time zone is set correctly for Norway.

Test it free on your own TV

The best way to find out whether your smart TV is up to the job is to test with real content. Frequently asked questions

Can I use IPTV on a smart TV without a box?

Yes. Samsung and LG TVs from recent years run IPTV apps straight from their own app stores. You need no decoder or extra box — just the app and your login details.

Which smart TVs are supported?

Samsung TVs with Tizen (roughly 2017 and newer) and LG TVs with webOS (roughly 2016 and newer) work directly. The service also runs on Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, Chromecast/Google TV and many other devices — see the FAQ for the full list.

Do the apps cost money?

The player apps are usually free to install, but some charge a small one-time developer fee for full functionality. That fee is separate from your subscription with us.

What if my TV is too old?

Use a streaming stick such as a Fire TV Stick or Chromecast with Google TV. It plugs into the HDMI port and gives an older TV a modern app platform for a few hundred kroner.

How long does setup take?

For most people, under ten minutes from installing the app to channels playing. If you get stuck, our support helps you live on WhatsApp — 24/7, in English and Norwegian.
